Can you touch your toes?

When was the last time you had a nice 7th-inning stretch?

The importance of stretching our muscles goes far beyond the gym. We warm them up, we work them hard, then we forget about them? Don't leave your muscles hanging!! 

Think back to Phys. Ed. class when the coach had you sit and reach to measure how far you could touch. Were you able to touch your toes? How has your flexibility gotten since grade school? If the answer is worse, then it's time to be more mindful of stretching. As little as 5 minutes of intentional stretching everyday will not only get your blood flowing, but improve your overall flexibility.

Trust me when I tell you- it does not have to be complicated. Set a timer on your phone, pick 5 of your favorite stretches, and hold them for a minute each. The result? Happy muscles and most importantly, a happy mind. 

Here's my go-to stretches:

  1. Kneeling hip flexor stretch
  2. Pigeon pose
  3. Forward fold
  4. Child's pose, reverse prayer
  5. Couch stretch

Keep it simple, keep it stretchy!
